Phil over at "There's A Dragon in my Art Room" makes fun paper Mache pigs with her students every year.  A few years ago the 6th graders at Rosewood Elementary made them .... every year, the 6th graders look forward to this project.

George Rodrigue Blue Dogs

We Began this 5th grade art lesson by watching these two videos:
Blue Dog Artist George Rodrigue - Biography
George Rodrigue featured on CBS Sunday Morning News

Students then sketched out several ideas on a worksheet I found on George Rodrigues's Website:
Blue Dog Worksheet

The students were encouraged to create a dog that expresses ideas that are important to them.

1st Grade Paintings:  Inspired by the book Giraffes Can't Dance by Giles Andreae and Guy Parker-Rees.
